She has two brothers, Timothy, and Tazmyn Michael Soares (June 23, 1989 - December 21, 2007), and a sister, Tay'le Rudolph (born 1992). Her father was killed when she was barely a year old. She began immersing herself in music at age 8, including using it to express her frustrations. She began singing professionally at age 14.
